We had been in the USA so many times before and we never saw bears. Therefore we decided in 2003 that it had to happen no matter what.
So we figured out:
- Where are the grizzlies?
- Where and what is the cheapest way to see them?
- Where and when should we be to be about 100% sure to see them?
And so we went to Canada in September. And more specific: a still expensive trip with Tide Ripe Tours and the free Fish Creek at Hyder.
For the rest we built our vacation around these trips. The grizzlies where our main goal.
But Canada didn't attract us too much: a little to many forests, mountains and lakes for us. But when we found out that Alberta has some badlands we decided to go.
After some calculating it appeared that a visit to Yellowstone (on our top 3 list in the world) was also a possibility so it became a very good trip....with an incredible amount of bears!!
