Since 1990 we always wanted to go back to Africa. We cannot think of a reason why we didn't do that sooner.
One thing we knew for sure. This time we wanted to rent a car and go without a guide or group. The best option for this is Southern Africa. As Dutch people, our thoughts of South Africa were: "Europe with wild animals". That is why we decided to go to Namibia.
A rental car was much cheaper from South Africa even with the drop off costs. That is why we started in Cape Town. We rented a Toyota Condor and went at a venture.
It became a dream trip. Namibia is without doubt one of the most beautiful places on earth. And especially the northern part is incredible. Who would have thought that just the two of us, without fear but fully enjoying it, would move among Himba people and Damara people? And that we would drive by huts unconcerned and take some schoolchildren in our car?
One thing is for sure, we will be back here on regular basis.
